Here you'll find all Dutch coffeeshops, including every product they sell. If you're looking for a coffeeshop nearby, you're in the right place. Buying weed, hash and edibles — with Coffeeshop Finder it won't take long to get your hands on quality cannabis!
A coffeeshop is the only type of establishment in the Netherlands where cannabis can legally be sold and consumed. In other words, buying weed and hash is perfectly possible once you know where to go. Over the years hundreds of different coffeeshops have opened across the Netherlands — mainly in major cities, but increasingly in smaller towns and even villages. This means that almost every resident or tourist can find a coffeeshop nearby within half an hour.
A good coffeeshop offers a fairly extensive menu. This gives you plenty of choice and the best chance of finding exactly the type of cannabis you're looking for. That's why you can buy quite a lot at the average coffeeshop these days. It's not unusual for a menu to feature at least four key product categories:
Buying weed remains the most popular option at most coffeeshops. In the shops listed on Coffeeshop Finder you'll generally find two main varieties: sativa and indica. Sativa weed is best known for the 'high' it gives you — it makes you energetic and often sparks creative thoughts. Well-known sativa strains include Amnesia Haze and White Widow. Indica, on the other hand, produces more of a 'stoned' feeling — you turn inward and feel deeply relaxed.
Hash is another perennially popular choice in Dutch coffeeshops. Here too you'll find several types to choose from: traditional hash, filtered hash, rosin and other specials. The main difference from weed is that hash is made from the resin of the plant, whereas weed consists of the dried flower buds. Hash is generally somewhat less potent than weed in terms of THC percentage, although many coffeeshops now also offer stronger hash variants.
Want to make things even easier and pick up a pre-rolled joint? These days that's no problem at all. Almost every coffeeshop sells ready-made joints so you can enjoy your weed or hash straight away. In most cases you'll have 10+ options to choose from. Simply buy one, light up, and start enjoying.
Not a big fan of smoking, or simply looking for a different or more intense experience? Then the fourth option available at any coffeeshop is edibles. The effect of edibles is often considerably stronger because the liver converts the THC into a more potent form. The best-known edibles sold in Dutch coffeeshops are space cake, space brownies, weed cookies, gummies and chocolate.
Finding a coffeeshop nearby isn't just about locating the closest one and heading straight there. Instead, it pays to compare the coffeeshops in your area on several fronts. With a short, strategic step-by-step plan from Coffeeshop Finder, you'll make sure you find the very best coffeeshop near you.
In nearly every case, visitors prefer a coffeeshop with a large menu. That's because tastes differ — one person may be looking for a classic Amnesia Haze while another prefers a Moonrock or Super Polm. At Coffeeshop Finder we let you browse the full menu of every coffeeshop in the Netherlands in just a few clicks.
Checking a coffeeshop's reviews is always a smart move. It gives you more insight into the experiences of the average visitor to any coffeeshop in the Netherlands. Try to look at reviews across several dimensions: selection, price, quality, service and tourist-friendliness.
For many cannabis enthusiasts, a visit isn't just about buying — especially in tourist areas there's high demand for a pleasant, relaxed environment to actually enjoy the products. On this front, it's wise to take a look at the photos of the coffeeshop in question.
A truly great coffeeshop goes a step further than the competition. This doesn't happen all the time, but more often than you might think. It shows up, for example, in an 'extras' or 'specials' section on the menu. Think of it as the icing on the cake.

The name 'coffeeshop' dates back to the 1970s. At that time cannabis was still being sold in traditional coffee and tea houses. These posed as 'normal' hospitality businesses so they wouldn't attract too much attention. The first official, tolerated weed seller was later Mellow Yellow in Amsterdam. They combined selling weed with selling coffee — and so the term 'coffeeshop' stuck!
As a Belgian you can simply visit a coffeeshop in the Netherlands. In virtually every coffeeshop tourists are welcome. It's only in specific exceptions in regions along the Belgian border that a coffeeshop may sometimes not sell to foreigners. Do note that it's illegal to take soft drugs back into Belgium. So enjoy your purchase on the spot and avoid problems when crossing the border.
Strictly speaking, coffeeshops in the Netherlands are not technically legal. They are 'tolerated' under the law. This means the Dutch government has decided not to prosecute coffeeshops as long as they adhere to strict rules — the AHOJ-G criteria. The best-known example is that a coffeeshop may sell a maximum of 5 grams of cannabis per customer. Selling weed or hash to minors is also prohibited.
The largest coffeeshop in the Netherlands is Prix d'Ami in Amsterdam. You could even argue it's the largest coffeeshop in the world. In terms of floor space and number of seats, this location towers above the rest. You'll find Prix d'Ami close to Amsterdam Centraal station, so it's easily accessible too!
The exact price of 1 gram of weed varies per coffeeshop. THC content and the coffeeshop's location also influence the price. Weed with a high THC content sold in city centres tends to be more expensive. On average you can expect to pay between €8 and €15 per gram. Premium strains (e.g. Cali weed variants) can sometimes run up to around €20.
There's no fixed price for 1 gram of hash in Dutch coffeeshops. On average you can expect to pay between €8 and €13. Standard varieties tend to be at the lower end of this range, while 'specials' are usually a bit pricier. A product like isolator, for instance, can quickly reach €16 to €20 per gram.
